Rakshana Deepam

Rakshana Deepam is the Institution under the DIVINE LIFE SOCIETY (Regd. No. 659) registered (under the societies Act, 35 of the year 2001) in the year 2005. Which is the part of the Society of the Holy Spirit.
It is situated at Himayatnagar Village, (at Enkepally Bus stop), Moinabad Mandal, Shamshabad Dt. 500 075. T.S, India.

Rakshana Deepam means, “Saving Light”. Rakshana Deepam Intends to be a drop in the ocean, giving care and support to HIV / AIDS infected and affected people.

Vision
Every HIV infected and affected person enjoys ‘life in all its fullness’ with a deep sense of self worth filled with Hope, Peace and Joy in their lives.

Mission
To be a saving light, which gives meaning to the lives of PLHA (People living with HIV/AIDS) and those affected, leading them from despair to hope through compassionate care, with supportive, rehabilitative, and palliative care.

Objectives
1. To improve the quality of life of PLHA through medical, nutritional and psycho-spiritual support, thus helping them to prolong their life span.
2. To champion the cause of acceptance and mutual respect for human life by enlightening and educating people on the facts of the disease and its consequences with regard to the family and society at large.
3. Training and educating of PLHA and those vulnerable, to become agents of change inspiring others to become channels of hope and New Life.
4. To join hands with Govt., NGOS and other like minded people to uplift those infected and affected by this disease.

Education
* Residential care for HIV infected Children, mothers and those critically ill.
* Pre and Post test counselling.
* Out-patient based treatment of those infected.
* Educational support to children infected and affected by HIV / AIDS.
* Psychological and Emotional support.
* Institutional and community outreach on HIV/AIDS bringing awareness among the student community and younger generation.
* Sensitization programs for self Help Groups community Based Organisation.
* Skilled Training for HIV / AIDS people.

Medical Camp
* The children are taken care by a residential appointed, qualified nurse, Miss. Sirisha,  and attends emergency with efficient nursing care.
* Follow up care every month at Govt. Niloufer Hospital and sees that their monthly medicines are dispersed, she requests the Administrator to provide medicines to monitor health needs.
* She also monitors that the children take the medicine as for the Doctors order.

Nutrition Needs
* We support the children to promote the health and present any kind of disease to keep the good health of our children we provide best nutritious food, i.e., eggs, meat, milk, fish, fruits, we love and care our children and do our best.

Social Activities
* The children are encouraged dancing, Singing, small duties, like cleaning and gardening etc.
* To bring a family atmosphere, we celebrate the Birth-days of our children.
* Social needs are met with great care, so that they should not feel, that they orphan.
* Sometimes in a year, we take them out for Picnics, and outdoors (city).
