Seminarian Formation & Support

In a committed religious life of a person, formation plays an important role. It helps transform oneself according to the charism, mission and vision of the Congregation for which he has dedicated. The life of a religious has become more challenging today due to the advancement of science and information technology. The mind-set of the people even in rural areas gets changed due to the influence of information technology. The social disparities and unequal distributions further get widened. Therefore, one needs to respond to the changing signs of the present-day world accordingly to serve the poor and the needy. As the Society of the Holy Spirit in its flourishing stages, there are 8 students in the Juniorate, 7 brothers in the Aspirancy period, 8 of them are doing their spirituality courses, 9 brothers are doing their Philosophical studies and 21 of them are doing their Theological studies.

There are 9 brothers of Society of the Holy Spirit studying their Philosophical Studies in Arul Anandar College (St. John De Britto) in Madurai. 21 Theologians are doing their Theological studies in Holy Spirit Major Seminary in Eluru and Jnana Vidya Peeth in Pune and Carmelaram Theological college in Bangalore. Society of the Holy Spirit finds it very difficult to meet the maintenance cost of the major seminarians as it has become very expensive in these days and it is also a newly founded congregation. It always depends on the well-wishers, benefactors and donors for the maintenance and formation of their brothers doing their Philosophical and Theological courses. The main source income for the Priests of Society of Holy Spirit is through preaching. Their preaching ministry is severely affected due to COVID-19 pandemic. Due to lack of funds, Society of the Holy Spirit finds it very difficult to recruit more students although they get lot of vocations. Hence, we turn to you for your timely assistance to help the Major Seminarians of the Society of the Holy Spirit to continue their religious studies without any difficulties and complete their Philosophical and Theological studies successfully and take up His mission in the remote corners of the World.

       The Warangal District was going through a phase of drought for the Word of God in the Catholic Church. The thirst among the people in the Church was tremendous and to cater to this urgent need, the Diocese of Warangal found the Society of the Holy Spirit to be the right source. They sought the help of the Centre for renewal and revival in the Church. The Director – Rev. Fr. Christuraj took it as a great mission and privilege when the Bishop himself invited him and gave him a retreat and prayer Centre already existing to take charge and begin renewal programs for the benefit of the faithful. Though it is more than 10 km. from the Warangal city, people come here to experience the mighty presence of the Lord. There is also fasting and prayer organized on every first Friday where thousands selflessly fast and pray for their own needs and needs of the world at large.
